Business Advisory Council (BAC)

The BAC.

The BAC is an advisory and support group of the Martin V. Smith School of Business and Economics at California State University Channel Islands. Members are selected and invited to join by Dr. Richard Rush, President of the University, and Dr. William Cordeiro, Director of the Smith School. The BAC is comprised of private and public sector leaders from the region as well as undergraduate and graduate students of the School.

Core Values and Beliefs.

As a voluntary and independent resource to the School, the BAC seeks to further the School’s relevance and prominence in the greater Ventura County area and within the California State University system. Members provide strategic input and non-binding recommendations to the School’s Director and his staff on policy issues impacting the School’s current and future operations.

Key Strategic Objectives.

  • To help build and promote the School’s brand and capabilities.
  • To advise regarding curriculum, programs and activities, recruitment, community relations, etc.
  • To encourage and develop interaction between the School and the business community.
  • To help promote the School’s accomplishments and to formulate ways to support its long-term development.
  • To develop a formal network of contacts and information to support students and instructors of the Smith School.
  • To strengthen ties between the Alumni & Friends Program.
