Admissions

Requirements

To be considered for admission to CSU Channel Islands' MBA program, applicants must meet the following requirements:   

  • Have a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Apply on-line application at www.csumentor.edu  In the application, you will be required to write a short "Statement of Purpose".  This is the only essay required for the admission process.
  • Submit a non-refundable admission fee of $55.  This can be paid on line by credit card or a check made out to CSUCI and mailed in to the Cashier's office at CSUCI.
  • Submit two letters of recommendation.  These can be professional or educational references.  For your convenience, a letter of recommendation form is provided below.  This form is usually easier for the recommender to complete.  Either a traditional recommendation letter or the form is acceptable.
  • Submit a current resume as supporting documentation.  
  • Have a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.75 (4.0=A) in their latest 60 semester units attempted and must be in good standing at the last college attended.
  • Submit GMAT scores. 
  • Submit one set of official transcripts from all institutions where you have received undergraduate and graduate degree credit to CSUCI Admissions and one set to CSUCI Extended Education.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years professional work experience (in any field).
  • Applicants who did not complete at least two years of their bachelor's degree instruction in English must demonstrate competence in English by achieving a score of at least 550 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
  • Applicants with foreign transcripts must have their transcript evaluated by a foreign transcript evaluation agency. You may have your transcript evaluated by World Education Services at www.wes.org
  •  Supporting application materials required should be submitted to the following to Extended Education Office, 2109 Sage Hall, CSUCI, One University Dr. Camarillo, CA  93012.  The set of transcripts for Admissions can be sent to CSUCI Admissions Office, Sage Hall, One University Dr. Camarillo, CA 93012.

CSU Channel Islands examines each candidate's potential, taking into consideration all academic work experience, level of responsibility, and other factors that may have a bearing on the individual's potential for success.

GMAT Information

The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is now administered as a computer-adaptive test (CAT) throughout North America and at many international sites. The MBA Explorer Web site, http://www.mba.com, will tell you what the GMAT CAT is all about, where it is given, how to schedule an appointment, what to expect at the test center, about your GMAT scores, and how to prepare for the test.

GMAT scores will take 3 weeks to be received by the school after the test date.  GMAT scores should be received by Extended Education by June 1, 2008 for Fall 2008.

Application forms

You need two professional recommendations.  It can be a professor, current or past work supervisor, or someone qualified to assess your potential.  The person may write a Letter of Recommendation or fill out the form below.  Experience has shown if you give the form below to your reference, it is returned faster.

* The CSU Channel Islands' MBA is offered as a special session program. The program is not receiving any direct State funding and is completely supported by student fees.
