The Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) program is designed to provide a comprehensive and in-depth education in business analytics, combining theoretical foundations with practical, industry-relevant skills. This program is ideal for:

Admissions Requirements
The MSBA program is now accepting applications for Fall 2025 semester! The following are the admission requirements. Note that only complete applications will be review by the Admissions Committee:
Minimum Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in any field from an accredited institution
- Minimum GPA: 2.75 (cumulative)
- Work experience
- Statement of Purpose
- Two Letters of Recommendation
- GMAT/GRE (waiver available)
How to Apply
The following documents must be uploaded into Cal State Apply prior to submitting your application. Send your letters of recommendation directly to MSBA program office at msba@csuci.edu.
Document Checklist:
- Cal State Apply Online Application: Submit your online application to the MSBA program along with the $70 nonrefundable application fee.
- Statement of Purpose: Sythesize how your academic background, work experience, career goals inform your pursuit of the MSBA.
- Résumé: Provide a current résumé or CV highlighting your academic background, professional experience, technical skills, and any relevant projects or certifications. The resume should clearly demonstrate your analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, and experience with data-driven decision-making.
- Two Letters of Recommendation: Secure recommendations from academic and professional sources who provide insight into your analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and work ethic. Strong letters will highlight your technical proficiency, intellectual curiosity, and ability to apply quantitative methods to real-world business challenges.
- Official Transcripts: Submit one (1) official transcript from each college and/or university attended.
Transcript(s) should be sent electronically from the issuing institution to our Regsitrar's
Office at admissions@csuci.edu, or send by mail to: CSUCI Admissions Office, 1 University Dr., Camarillo, CA, 93012-8599.
- Graduates of CSU Channel Islands are not required to submit official transcripts unless they have taken additional coursework at another institution after earning their degree.
- GMAT/GRE Score Report: Applicants to the MSBA program must submit an official score report for the GMAT
or GRE scores (taken within the past five years). An applicant may request to waive
the GMAT or GRE if one of the following criteria is met.
- Applicants with an undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
- Applicants with three or more years of professional experience in analytics, data-driven decision-making, or related fields, demonstrating an increasing level of responsibility and impact
- Applicants with a master’s degree from a regionally accredited university
Application Deadlines
We welcome new students once a year, with admissions available only for the fall semester.
- Application Opens: October 1
- Application Closes: May 1 (Priority Deadline)
Admission to the program is selective and determined through a comprehensive evaluation of each applicant’s academic achievements, personal experiences, and professional background. Only complete applications will be reviewed!
This program follows a rolling admissions process. To receive priority consideration, applicants are encouraged to submit their materials by May 1. Applications received after the May 1 priority deadline will be considered on a space-available basis.
Applicants generally receive an admissions decision via email 2-4 weeks after a complete application has been received and reviewed.
